May2012

Mothers Day gift: was it for me or for the boys??? Thoughts? We have thoroughly enjoyed many evenings outside, and experimented with countless concoctions of goodies to be roasted. Peeps are fun, but they burn easily. Marshmallows stuffed with recess pieces are tasty. Starbursts are another favorite.

The facebook world exploded the evening of May 14 with news that the Angel Moroni had made it to the grounds of the temple. We hopped in the car and this is what we saw. There were many milling around and we did find out that the Angel  Moroni would be placed atop the temple the following day. There was no definitive time only that it would be placed between 10-2.

Looking from south of the temple north on May 14th.

May 15th, 2012. I took the kids out of school at 9:30, and in the light of day we could see that someone had driven the Angel Moroni down from Utah on a trailer. Wouldn't that have been an interesting sight to see driving down the freeway?

The green netting is placed all around the grounds of the temple. There are small holes that can be peeked through.

Throughout the day we would see someone go up in the cherry picker and check on  or place things at the top of the steeple. The day was a bit windy and there were concerns that the wind would be too strong to be able to place the statue up. We saw them get ready a few times, but then have to scrap it as the wind was blowing too hard. Finally, around 2pm the winds were calm enough and the Angel Moroni was lifted up. The crane lifted it off the trailer and the statue was then walked around the perimeter of the fence so all could see.  Then 195 feet he rose to the top of the steeple.

Being there was a neat experience. One that the kids will remember!

Andrew was selected to play on the All-Star team this spring. I think he was most excited about having a jersey with his name on the back. Rarely do the kids have jerseys with their names on them anymore.

Memorial Day found us on Lake Roosevelt with the Perkins enjoying the water.

Matthew, Cami (peeking her head in) Brandon, Chris, Andrew and Cadie

I love the wildness of Matthew and Brandon's hair after whipping around on the tube. Roosevelt Lake is huge so there is always a place to ski and you never feel like you are on top of everyone else.
