Sciatica, the real pain in the...

Back in October, I noticed it really hurt to sit, stand, basically do a lot of things. I dismissed it and went on with life. In January, we finished the patio one Saturday and I spent the majority of the morning sitting on the hard bricks-- I could not stand or walk without hurting after finishing the project. Finally swallowing my pride I went to the doctor and got a referral to a Physical Therapist. Although going to the PT makes me sore, at least I have become a bit more pain free. Because I took so long to finally go in, it is going to take awhile to get better! I do have to say this really has been a pain in the....

The silver lining... I am not to vacuum or mop for the next few weeks!

No training wheels for me

Matthew is our "sleeper". He always watches, looks and learns and then just does. He has been asking for the past week for us to take his training wheels off and help him ride his bike with "two wheels". Brandon had been prepping him that it may take more than one try to get the hang of it. In the back of my mind I am thinking, Matthew is the child who will just get on his bike and go. We headed to the church parking lot, which has the largest unobstructed area around. Brian held onto the back of the bike for a bit... and he was off! It will take a few more weeks of practice, but Matthew was riding by himself without much of an issue. He was so proud of himself. He had a sweet smile on his face all afternoon.

Thou Shalt Not Nap

We have decided to add an eleventh commandment in our family...Thanks to Andrew. He has given up naps for at least a year, but once in a while he will sneak one in. Friday afternoon he fell asleep on the way home from picking Brandon up- I could not wake him up to save my life. Believe me I tried, I know what the coming hours will hold. This is what the evening hours looked like:
7:00p.m.- Boys in bed, reading stories
7:30 p.m.- Music on- goodnights said
7:45 p.m.- Mom sitting by Andrew's bed trying to get him to close his eyes, other two long gone
8:00 p.m.- Mom finally says, "Andrew I need to go take care of some things, I'll be back up to check on you in a minute."
8:05 p.m.- Footsteps on stairs... "Hi guys" Andrew says as he peeks his head sheepishly around the corner.
8:10 p.m.- "Let's go to bed Andrew"- up the stairs we head. Sit by the bed for another twenty minutes. His eyes are starting to close, so I leave.
9:00 p.m. I head up to our room to read, watch TV, etc... Go into the boys room ( yes they all want to sleep in the same room) Kiss Brandon, kiss Matthew, look in Andrew's bed.... wait no Andrew! I find Andrew in the Lego Room ( his old room) happily playing. He must have been in there for the last 45 minutes!
9:05 p.m.- Start the whole bed process over with- eyes shutting, I leave.....
9:20 p.m.- More footsteps.... little face appears in our bedroom doorway.... "Hi guys, what are we watching", he says as he climbs in between Brian and I in bed. We laugh, play and decide to have some fun with him.
10:15 p.m. Andrew finally falls asleep between Brian and I- his favorite place to be.

Moral of the story: Thou shalt not nap Andrew
