Some random thoughts that have crossed my mind of late
1) Newtons third law has direct application in baseball: For every player who slides, either when stealing a base or scoring a run, there is a mother whose heart drops knowing she is going to have to soak those pants yet again!
I am thankful for my deep sink! It doens't get much love the rest of the year, but come spring time there are always pants soaking. I can handle grass stains with the best of them- but red baseball dirt, that one still has me stumped!
2) Why do birds start chirping far too many minutes before the sun comes up?
3) Freezer meal groups seem to be the thing "du jour" around here. When we moved here five years ago, the thing to do was to be in a "dinner group". At first, I was feeling rather left out, it seemed kind of fun, having dinner brought to you two or three nights a week. I was asked to sub for two weeks, and thought this was a good chance to really see what it was like. Honestly, making dinner for four families was ridiculous- I spent ALL day doing it. After we got stuffed zuccinni, as a main dish; and after having to make the kids (or Brian) something to eat more times than I wanted to those two weeks- I decided it was not for me.
My neighbor and I then did a swap once a week for quite a long time, I liked her cooking and it was much less stress, but then I got pregnant and like most things that were not essential, the dinner swap went out the window too.
Now, the freezer meal idea seems somewhat appealing, pull a meal out of my freezer, pop it in my oven and I have dinner...except for one problem I think I might be a food snob. I like my food the way I like it. I don't want to have to make something else if no one is going to eat it. I like fresh, pretty much from scratch things. Don't go pulling out a bread product from a pressurized can near me! Thanks, but no thanks. I'll do my own freezer meal group myself- I'll make two of something and freeze one of them.
4) Why in tarnation do boys have to leave their baseball cups everywhere but their underwear drawer?
5) I have a complaint for Post. I really like Honey Bunches of Oats. I use it as the base of a good bowl of cereal, and then I add a bit more granola, or bran or whatever else I have on hand, and top it off with frozen blueberries. But I've found lately that I have to add more and more granola to get it just right. Is the state of the economy affecting the number of "bunches" they add to their cereal?
6) Speaking of the economy, I was reading in the paper (yes, the newspaper; we are still old fashioned around here with our printed media. It's part of the daily routine and the Sunday evening routine) A school district in the midwest is requiring all papers that are printed out to be in a specific font, which requires less ink than your typical Times New Roman or Arial. They estimate they will save between 10-20 thousand a year in printing costs. Seems a little ridiculous; but on the other hand, they are really trying to trim costs by being creative, so I have to hand it too them.
7) I thought Andrew's feet were black (you'll have to scroll through the pics to find Andrew's feet) , but I think Zach may trump him. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of his feet yet. But the nights we don't have a bath ( which seems to be more the norm right now because of baseball games) I have to scrub and scrub his feet before he goes to bed.
8) RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) is the pits.
